    Jason Kuhlman, Mitchell Hall, and Miller Grumley have taken on the task of researching and developing a semi-annual publication for Kentucky Defense Counsel, Inc. ("KDC").  If all goes as planned, the first issue of the 36-page publication will be printed and mailed in mid to late October 2013.

    This Committee has done a great job getting organized for the first edition of the publication.  However, due  to the large amount of work that goes into preparation, they definitely could use some assistance.  This is a great opportunity to be part of the Publication Committee.

    The KDC Board of Directors met on April 18, 2013 at the offices of O'Bryan, Brown & Toner, Louisville, Kentucky.  The following individuals were voted in as Directors of the KDC Board:

    Beth Lochmiller of Coleman, Lochmiller & Bond, Elizabethtown, KY (District 2); Daniel G. Brown of Darby & Gazak, P.S.C., Louisville, KY (District 4); Timothy E. Davis of Landrum & Shouse LLP, Lexington and Todd S. Page of Stoll Keenon Ogden PLLC, Lexington (District 5); and, Nicholas Birkenhauer of Dressman Benzinger & LaVelle psc, Crestview Hills, KY (District 6).

    All five Directors will serve a three-year term and may serve a second three-year term upon approval of the entire KDC Board of Directors.

    KDC wishes to welcome its two newest members:

      Scott Allen Davidson is employed with Boehl Stopher & Graves, LLP, Louisville and has been in practice for 16 years.  He is a graduate of Brandeis School of Law at the University of Louisville and practices in the area of insurance defense.  

       Hollan Thomas Holm is employed with Dilbeck, Myers & Harris, PLLC, Louisville and has been in practice for 4 years.  He is a graduate of Brandeis School of Law at the University of Louisville, and practices in the areas of auto, insurance and tort defense.

    KDC welcomes its newest member, Shannon Michael Naish. Shannon practices at Robinson & Epling, PSC in Lexington in the area of medical malpractice.  He received his JD from the University of Kentucky in 1997.

    KDC would like to congratulate University of Louisville Brandeis School of Law student, Lacey Gullett, on being named the recipient of KDC's $500 award given to the student at each Kentucky law school who receives the highest grade in torts.  Ms. Gullett will receive her award at a reception and ceremony being held on Friday, April 12, 2013.  KDC wishes Ms. Gullett the best as she continues on in her legal career.

    G. Todd Hoffpauir and KDC member Chad M. Sizemore of Montgomery, Rennie & Jonson in Cincinnati, Ohio, secured a verdict for defendants truck driver and trucking company in a personal injury action tried to a jury in Christian County Circuit Court between February 21, 2013 and February 28, 2013.  For a summary of this case, go to Members Only/Defense Verdicts and select "auto" or "pre-existing condition".

    KDC welcomes its newest member, David Andrew Trevey of Fulkerson, Kinkel & Marrs PLLC, Lexington.  Mr. Trevey is a University of Kentucky Law School graduate and has been practicing for eight years.  His areas of practice include medical malpractice and professional liability.  He is a member of DRI.

    The YLS Committee met on January 24 to discuss their goals for 2013 and beyond.  Stephanie Wurdock, Christy Hajjar and Tia Combs have agreed to head up the 2013 YLS Seminar on November 7th at Marriott Griffin Gate.  Several topics were discussed and are being followed up on.  The next meeting will take place in September 2013 to finalize plans for the November 7 YLS Seminar.

    Melissa F. Calabrese has been named as the new Secretary-Treasurer of Kentucky Defense Counsel, Inc.  She replaces Casey Stansbury, who has moved into the newly created position of Vice President of Kentucky Defense Counsel, Inc.
