    Kit Hornback resided at her last meeting as President of Kentucky Defense Counsel on Thursday, October 6.  At that meeting, the Board voted in two new Directors:  Jeffrey Lowe, Kightlinger & Gray, Louisville will serve as a Director at Large for District 4.  David Stratton, Stratton, Hogg & Maddox, P.S.C., Pikeville will serve as a Director for District 7.

    Jason Kuhlman, District 6, had to resign his position on the Board for now, but hopes to become involved again at a future date.  Tony Sammons served two three-year terms and served (and continues to serve) as  Chairman of the Legislative Committee.  KDC thanks both Jason and Tony for their years of service on the KDC Board.

    Last, the Officers for 2014-15:  KDC's new President is Casey Stansbury, Fowler Bell, PLLC, Lexington;  President-Elect is Bradley Case, Dinsmore & Shohl, Louisville; Vice President is Beth Lochmiller of Coleman, Lochmiller & Bond, Elizabethtown, and Secretary-Treasurer is Mitch Hall of VanAntwerp, Monge, Jones, Edwards & McCann, LLP, Ashland.  The Immediate Past President is Kit Hornback, Reinhardt & Associates, Lexington.  Park Priest now bears the permanent title of Past President, and it is expected he will stay involved with the Board ex officio.

    Kentucky Defense Counsel, Inc.  has been named the recipient of DRI’s 2014 Rudolph A. Janata Award.  This award is presented annually to an outstanding state or local defense bar organization that has undertaken an innovative or unique program contributing to the goals and objectives of the organized defense bar. 

    Kentucky Defense Counsel is also pleased to announce that KDC President-Elect, Casey Stansbury, has been named the recipient of DRI’s 2014 Albert H. Parnell Outstanding Program Chair Award.  This award honors an individual who created a dynamic educational program.  The honoree also displayed leadership, dedication and creativity in seminar development.  Above all of these achievements, the program met organizational expectations established for the seminar. 

    The awards will be formally presented at the DRI Annual Meeting Awards Luncheon in San Francisco on Friday, October 23, 2014.
