The following is reprinted from the KBA website:

State bar associations nationwide are reporting that their members have been receiving false notifications indicating that a disciplinary action has been filed against them. The emails appear to have been sent from the association’s office of bar counsel or their local bar association.

ALL correspondence from the Kentucky Bar Association’s Office of Bar Counsel (OBC) regarding the commencing of a disciplinary action will come via the U.S. Post Office. The OBC never uses email to send notice to a member of a disciplinary proceeding.

We suggest that you delete suspicious emails IMMEDIATELY. DO NOT open these emails or click any links. Doing so could result in your computer or device being exposed to a virus. We ask that our members be careful and diligent in regards to this matter.

If you are unsure about an email or a website, please contact us at (502) 564-3795.

For those of you who are members of DRI, we wanted to bring the following to your attention. In the November 2016 issue of Common Defense, on page 4 there is the great news that our great friend, John Trimble, was the recipient of the Indianapolis Bar Association's 2016 Professionalism Awards. For those of us who have had the privilege of working with John, we know this is well deserved. Congratulations, John!

On page 4, there is a picture of KDC Director, Jeff Lowe, relative to Jeff being nominated and appointed to serve a one-year term on the DRI's Board of Directors. We appreciate having Jeff on our Board, and we know DRI will not be disappointed with his efforts.

Skipping past some other great articles and landing on page 20, there is a great article on Endometrial Cancer - A Primer in Medicine and the Law authored by KDC member, Andrew DeSimone of Sturgill, Turner, Barker & Moloney, PLLC, Lexington, which is co-authored with Dr. Christpher DeSimone who is an associate professor in the Division of Gynecologic Oncology at the University of Kentucky. Well done!!

Effective November 1, 2016, DRI is no longer offering free memberships to new members.  However, new DRI members (who have never been a member) will be provided with a certificate to attend a DRI seminar at a greatly reduced rate.

KDC and DRI align to best serve the needs of all civil defense counsel.  There are benefits to being a member of both organizations.

KDC wishes to thank DRI for its continual support.
